The Woodward SOGAV™ (Solenoid Operated Gas Admission Valve) is an electrically actuated, high-response gas admission valve for in-manifold (port) fuel admission. SOGAV valves are designed for four-cycle, turbocharged, natural gas or dual-fuel engines; one valve is required for each cylinder, and governing is done by valve opening duration and/or gas pressure modulation.
Drake Controls is an authorized Woodward distributor and service center for the complete SOGAV family. We supply new valves, documented replacements for legacy configurations, and the In-Pulse™ electronic fuel injection controls they operate with, for new engine programs and port-injection retrofits alike.
Key Features
- Port fuel admission for improved cylinder-to-cylinder control
- All-electric actuation with fast, consistent response
- Electronic fuel injection technology for four-stroke engines
- Simple installation
- Choice of sizes to match cylinder bore and fuel flow
- For new engines and retrofits
- Works with Woodward In-Pulse™ electronics
- Certified for North American Hazardous Locations (CSA Class I, Division 2, Groups A, B, C, D T4)
- Compliant with applicable CE Directives: EMC, Low Voltage, ATEX, Machinery, Pressure Equipment
- Face-type poppet valve with E-core solenoid; leakage less than 0.25% of rated steady-state flow

Applications
- Four-cycle, turbocharged natural gas engines
- Dual-fuel engines
- Power generation, gas compression, and pumping service
- New engine programs and port-injection retrofits
Port-injection conversions with SOGAV valves have a documented track record: in a Woodward case study on a pipeline compressor-station engine, the retrofit reduced NOx emissions below 1.0 g/bhp-hr while cutting fuel consumption a further 5% over the previously installed technology (Woodward publication 51243).
Legacy SOGAV Valves and Obsolescence
Several legacy SOGAV configurations have reached end of life under Woodward Product Change Notices. Documented paths include SOGAV 200 to the current SOGAV 145 (engine manifold modification with OEM-supported tuning), SOGAV 43 part 8300-219 to 8402-1051, and marine SOGAV 105 inserts to the current IGF versions. Check any SOGAV part number in our cross-reference finder for its lifecycle status, last-time-buy dates, and the documented replacement path.
