R-Series Engine Actuator Newly Enhanced

R-Series Engine Actuator Newly Enhanced

R-Series - 03434_NEWThis past May, Woodward, Inc. announced the next release of the R-Series R-11 and R-30 electric actuators. This release allows the actuator to be configured using a PC-loaded service tool. It now accepts demand inputs in the form of a 4-20 mA, 0-200 mA, 24-volt PWM (pulse width modulated), and J1939 command signal.

Additionally, it accepts redundant command signals with a failover transfer to the backup position command and back again. No changes were made to the actual hardware and all the new functionality was accomplished by updating the unit’s software.

Just like the first release, these actuators may be used in fuel throttles, wastegates, exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), compressor recirculation (bypass), waste heat recovery (WHR), and exhaust application. Additional applications on reciprocating engines include variable turbine geometry (VTG) turbocharger actuation.
