Drake Controls offer Woodward simplex, duplex or TMR architecture control systems for a variety of applications including compression, power generation, pumps, fans and expanders. In addition, we can provide API compliant overspeed protection.

Gas Turbine start, dynamic and steady state performance can be improved by utilizing modern control solutions accompanied with precision gaseous and/or liquid fuel metering valves.

Steam Turbines also benefit from Woodward’s modern control systems and can be further enhanced with our latest valve automation technologies including actuators, hydraulic power units and servo retrofits.

Peak 150The Woodward Peak ®150 digital control is designed to control single valve/rack steam turbine driving a mechanical load. Features include redundant speed sensing , remote set point control as well as dual speed control dynamics and overspeed trip test capabilities.

505The 505 product family is an industry standard for steam turbines . The 505 is field programmable which allows a single design to be used in many different control applications. A front panel display and keypad or computer based software allow operators to program the control to a specific generator or mechanical drive application. The 505 can be configured to operate in Simplex or Redundant configurations.

MicronetThe MicroNet™ product line is our most powerful solution for the turbine market. The MicroNet family consists of Simplex, Duplex and TMR configurations for the highest control reliability available. All MicroNet hardware is VME based architecture. MicroNet configurations are customized to the application requirements using our large selection of I/O modules and field termination modules. The MicroNet product line maintains a SIL ratings for the most challenging control and safety system requirements.

ProtechProTech overspeed protection and configurable plant safety systems provide the highest level of reliability for protecting your equipment. The Protech GII and ProTech TPS product lines are both API-612 and API-670 compliant in addition to their TUV, SIL 3 rating. For less critical applications the ProTech SX provides Simplex TUV, SIL 2 overspeed protection and I/O monitoring.


CPC IIThe CPC-II (current to pressure converter, generation II) is an electrohydraulic pressure-regulating valve control designed for use in positioning single-acting steam turbine valve servos. This CPC’s superb accuracy and resolution make it ideal for steam turbine valve control and related turbine speed and load control. Precise and stable steam valve control directly relates to improved steam turbine speed and load control and reduced system mechanical wear. This converter can be configured to accept redundant pressure demand inputs, from one or two (redundant) controllers, and vote the input to follow.

The TM-25LP and TM-200LP actuators are electric-hydraulic, proportional actuators for positioning steam and fuel-control valves requiring low/high force linear inputs. The TM is ideal for retrofitting existing pilot servo systems requiring high reliability and accuracy. The TM product line includes options for low and high pressure control oil systems as well as redundant torque motor coils for fault tolerance. Integral LVDT position feedback is also available.

Varistroke IIThe VariStroke-II is a low pressure linear electro-hydraulic actuator that is designed to provide the linear actuation force to operate steam turbine control valves or valve racks. The VariStroke product line is modular in that a remote servo only or a complete integrated servo actuator can be provided to replace aging OEM servos and power cylinders.

The VariStroke-II’s superb speed, accuracy and resolution make it ideal for critical steam turbine valve control. The VariStroke-II actuator’s robust design) makes it ideal for challenging applications where dirty or contaminated oil may be present. Cylinder Bore Options 4-8”, 2-14” Stroke, 80-500PSI Hydraulic Supply, 24VDC, Zone 1 & 2 Available.
