Drake Controls, founded in 2002, has become one of Woodward’s largest channel partners globally. Our company is a Woodward Recognized Turbine Retrofitter as well as the Authorized Woodward Sales & Service Center for the central US, Gulf Coast and Western Region of the United States. In addition to our U.S. operations, Drake Controls is also responsible for Woodward products, systems and services within the country of Mexico.

In addition to Woodward, Drake Controls also represents Dynalco Controls throughout our U.S. and Mexico territories. Our goal at Drake Controls is to provide quality products, solutions and technical services to the Turbomachinery industry and our customers.

What We Offer

Engineered Systems

Drake engineers are experts in engine and turbine controls because we understand your equipment. Our qualified and experienced field engineers are available to solve complex problems, conduct site surveys and propose solutions that are optimum for your application.

Our extensive experience is enhanced by our shared knowledge base with Woodward who has been providing prime mover controls to OEMs and end users since 1870.

We utilize Woodward purpose built hardware platforms designed specifically to control engines and turbines. This allows Drake to focus on your application and not on how to make general purpose PLC or DCS systems suitable for engine or turbine control. The result is a better control solution with a predictable project outcome.

Turbine Systems

Drake Controls offer Woodward simplex, duplex or TMR architecture control systems for a variety of applications including compression, power generation, pumps, fans and expanders. In addition, we can provide API compliant overspeed protection.

Gas Turbine start, dynamic and steady state performance can be improved by utilizing modern control solutions accompanied with precision gaseous and/or liquid fuel metering valves.

Steam Turbines also benefit from Woodward’s modern control systems and can be further enhanced with our latest valve automation technologies including actuators, hydraulic power units and servo retrofits.

Engine Systems

Drake Controls offers electronic engine control systems for any application operating on diesel and/or gaseous fuel.

Woodward designs and manufactures’ a wide variety components including hydraulic & electronic governors, air-fuel ratio controls, fuel control valves, actuators, mixers and solenoids. This comprehensive product offering allows control of key engine variables enabling Drake to develop advanced control strategies superior to the OEM.

Our control solutions can operate engines in rich or lean burn modes, avoid detonation and operate at the lowest emissions possible, thus lowering maintenance cost and increasing up time. We can convert your diesel engine to operate simultaneous on gaseous fuel to reduce operating cost.

Services

The Drake Controls service department is available to our customers 24/7 to provide parts, technical support, or emergency service.

Our Woodward factory trained technicians and field engineers are available for repair, troubleshooting, installation and commissioning of your equipment.

Drake Controls is factory authorized to service and repair Woodward hydraulic and electronic products including governors, actuators, control valves, shutoff valves and electronic controls. All components overhauled are returned to like new OEM standards.

Our experts can train your staff how to operate, maintain and troubleshoot new and legacy control systems. This can be done at any of our locations or at your facility.
